Time limits for bringing a claim
In this country the time limit for bringing a claim is generally 3 years from the date of the accident for injury claims and 6 years for non injury claims. There are however exceptions to this general rule. The most common exceptions are:-
- Criminal injury claims must normally be brought within 2 years of the injury;
- Claims for children (below the age of 18 when the injury happened) can be brought until the age of 21;
- Other types of claim can have a longer or shorter period for claiming.
If you suffered any injury at any time and are uncertain about whether time limits will apply, please speak to us as soon as possible.
